Where to site:

• Face north or north-east to avoid strong sunlight and heavy rain.

• Choose a quiet, sheltered location, away from feeding stations and busy areas of the garden.

• Ensure the box is securely fixed and does not sway.

How to care for it:

• Leave the nest box undisturbed during the breeding season.

• Clean out old nesting material once a year in autumn, after chicks have fledged.

• Use boiling water only to clean the inside; avoid chemicals or detergents.

• Check fixings annually to ensure the box remains stable and weather-resistant.
