How much to feed:

• Always use peanuts specifically prepared for birds, never salted or roasted peanuts intended for human consumption

• Never put whole peanuts on feeding stations, tables or on the ground. This can cause choking hazards, break them up first. However, if in a proper peanut feeder, they can be whole as birds will slowly peck through the mesh.

Where to feed:

• Feed peanuts from a dedicated peanut feeder to prevent choking

• Hang feeders 1.5–2 metres above ground to keep birds safe from predators

• Place in a sheltered location, away from strong winds and rain

• Position near trees or shrubs to give birds a safe escape route
