Siting instructions:

For best results, site the nest box 2 to 4 metres above ground level in a quiet location with a clear flight path to the entrance. Position the box so that the entrance faces between north and east to avoid strong sunlight and prevailing winds. The nest box can be fixed to a tree, wall, fence or outbuilding and should be securely attached to prevent movement.

Care and maintenance:

Nest boxes require minimal care. Cleaning should be carried out after the breeding season, once birds have finished nesting. Old nesting material can be carefully removed using warm water and a stiff brush if required. Avoid using chemicals or disinfectants, and never disturb birds while the nest box is in use.
